Karnak Web Interface User Guide
This user guide provides a comprehensive overview of the Karnak web interface, covering configuration, management, and operational features. Most of the sections below correspond to specific functionalities accessible from the left-hand menu in the main Karnak interface.
-
Configure a forward node — the DICOM application entity that receives instances — and route what it arrives to destinations, each with its own profile.
-
Create, import, edit and delete profiles in the Karnak portal and see which projects use them. The DICOM Basic Profile is available out of the box.
-
A project links a de-identification profile to the secret used to derive pseudonyms and UIDs. Create and manage projects, and what the secret controls.
-
Supply your own pseudonyms instead of generated ones: CSV import or manual entry, and how Karnak matches them to patients during transfer.
-
Follow transfers in progress and recent history: filters, transfer statuses, the study hierarchy tree with a detail panel, the dashboard and CSV export.
-
Test connectivity and query endpoints from Karnak: C-ECHO, DICOM worklist, QIDO-RS, WADO and STOW-RS checks, plus the reusable DICOM node configurations.
-
Validate every study sent to a destination against the DICOM standard and get an HTML report by email: what is checked, how to enable it, how to read it.
-
Register the credentials Karnak uses to call an external service — client secret and endpoint — stored encrypted and reused by profiles.
-
Configure a Kheops album as a STOW-RS destination: create the album token, set its permissions, and switch between albums from the same forward node.
-
The Help page gathers links to this documentation and reports the running version and runtime details — the information to quote when reporting an issue.
-
The portable distribution runs the gateway on a single machine with no installation: what it contains, how to start it, and what it is and is not suited for.
